Mount Panorama

Mount Panorama-Wahluu is an icon not to be missed when visiting Bathurst. The famous mountain is home to many races on the Australian motorsport calendar, and is also a sacred Wiradjuri site.

With spectacular views from the top, picnic facilities, a playground and the new Skyline Boardwalk it's quite easy to spend a couple of hours here.

The Bathurst region has some fantastic opportunities for four wheel driving. From challenging terrain with river crossings to leisurely scenic drives through the pine forests. With the Bridle Tracks re-opening there is no shortage of 4WD opportunities in the Bathurst region.

Flat Rock Picnic Area

Grab a picnic and spend the day at Flat Rock on the banks of the Fish River. This rustic but gorgeous recreational spot is popular for locals to relax and sunbake on the rocks. Camping is allowed but there are limited facilities so make sure you pack what you need and take your rubbish with you.

Machattie Park

This stunning park in the heart of Bathurst designed and built in the late Victorian era remains one of the favourite places in town for visitors and locals to admire.
See if you can find The Duck Pond, The Rotunda, Monro Drinking Fountain, The Fernery, Begonia House and the Grand Fountain.

Cherry Picking in Bathurst

Who doesn't love these delicious, juicy staples of every Australian Summer? Cherry season starts from late November to early December and Bathurst has some great local cherry producers who offer farm gate sales and pick your own opportunities. Perfect on a pav, or just enjoy them all on their glorious own.

Kissing Point Lookout

Just outside of Hill End, this lookout offers excellent views over the Turon River Valley and Split Rock.

A steep half hour climb to the top will have you puffing, but just wait until you see the view!

Abercrombie Caves

50 minutes' drive to the south west of Bathurst is the Abercrombie Karst Conservation Reserve, home to the unforgettable Abercrombie Caves.

Chifley Dam

Chifley Dam is currently on a 'RED' Alert - Closed to all water-based recreational use. Bathurst's main water catchment 20 minutes drive from town is super popular in the summer months for boating, fishing, camping, and water sports.
