Monthly Muster – Banks of Bathurst – Autumn Colours Heritage Festival Event

Alan McRae will give a talk on “Bathurst’s own bank and Colonial Banks in Bathurst.” Few people are aware that Bathurst had its own town bank called the Bathurst Bank, established in 1835. Later private colonial banks were established with Bathurst having some of the earliest branches, which saw trial designs for banknotes to be issued with ‘Bathurst’ named on them to stop raids by bushrangers. A light supper will be served at the conclusion of the presentation.
