In 2026, VOX – Sydney Philharmonia Choirs’ virtuosic young adult choir – turns 25, and they are celebrating with a gorgeous program devised by longstanding VOX director Elizabeth Scott that harks back to the choirs’ origins and looks to its future.
There’s music by Australian composers Alice Chance and Dan Walker who composed ‘Archangelo’ for that first concert in 2001, and a new work especially for this concert. There’s also music representing the essence of VOX: a fresh choral sound, virtuoso a cappella harmonising, and themes of spirituality, environment and community. VOX favourites such as Eric Whitacre and Arvo Pärt will be joined by old friends, emerging voices, and a Gen Z hymn – World O World – by British trailblazer Jacob Collier.
