Open on the fourth Sunday of each month this fine example of early domestic Australian architecture, Old Government Cottage has operated as a museum since 1965. It is believed the cottage was built in the 1850s by Miss Ann Falloon, as a residence and school to young ladies. Old Government Cottage houses an exhibition on the development of Bathurst, artworks and a display of local domestic objects. The garden contains many heritage plants, farm equipment and an original baker’s oven.
