Old Government Cottage located at 16 Stanley Street (near the low-level bridge), is a fine example of early domestic
Australian architecture. The building has operated as a museum since 1965 and houses an exhibition on the
development of Bathurst, artworks and a display of early local domestic objects. The garden contains many
heritage plants, farm equipment and an original baker’s oven.
