Monthly History Talk – Rail to Bathurst, and Beyond- Autumn Colours Heritage Festival

Frank Johnson, a retired civil engineer from the NSW railway industry and active member
of Engineering Heritage, presents an engaging XPT-style journey through 150 years of
rail history to Bathurst. His talk explores the people, challenges and milestones behind the
Main Western Railway Line, which reached Bathurst in 1876 under the leadership of John
Whitton, the Father of the NSW Railways, and traces how this vital rail corridor has evolved
over time.
