Bx For Families

Planning the perfect day out for the family is a difficult task, so we have done it for you.

Start your day with a walk along the new boardwalk along the top of Mount Panorama/Wahluu. The views from the viewing platform are stunning, and signage recounts the Wiradjuri traditions showing that the site was of tremendous importance long before the roar of the engines around the iconic circuit.

Then head into the heart of Bathurst and to the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, located in the 1870s schoolhouse building in the historic Town Square. Breathtaking minerals and gemstones, dinosaurs including a full T-rex and a delightful display of coprolites (fossilised poo) will enthral kids of all ages.

Hit the road and take the scenic drive to the old gold mining towns of Sofala and Hill End where you can still pan for gold and even, if your luck is in, find some!

Returning to Bathurst, step back in time with a visit to Abercrombie House and explore this 50+ room historic mansion and extensive gardens meeting the resident peacocks!

And reward such a full day of discovery with a visit to the rightly famous Annie’s Home-made Ice Cream Parlour, enjoying the treat sitting in the beautiful King’s Parade next door.
