Just 30 minutes from Bathurst the Wambool Nature reserve is a great spot to go out bush walking. Gazetted for its geological significance and strong representation of rare, native flowering shrubs and terrestrial orchids. The reserve is also home to a wide range of fauna including ring-tailed possum, sugar gliders, grey kangaroos, swamp wallabies, echidna and a wide range of reptiles.

With two signed walking tracks this reserve can make a great day out for birdwatchers with over 50 species sighted. Each track will take about 30 minutes one way or can be looped via the Link Trail for a 1-hour loop. Access to the reserve is via the official walking tracks, and no pets or camping are allowed within the reserve.
