‘Women of Hill End’ Exhibition

Artist Inspiration and theme of show – recognising the women of Hill End, this exhibition is not about men, and it is not about gold.
“I noted that in The Holtermann Collection of photographs from Hill End that the women in the photographs were simply labelled ‘woman’ – which I interpret as meaning … the women are the property of the photographed male and have no identity and so are of little importance. This body of work is about the HERSTORY of Hill End”.

Handmade earthenware ceramics – low fired – approx. 1120 degrees Celsius.
BRS clay deliberately used because when fired it resembles the colour of the Hill End geological landscape.
