Wattle Flat

The perfect pit stop.

When travelling north towards Sofala or Hill End, the village of Wattle Flat is the perfect place to plan a stop. Up to 40,000 people called the town home at the height of the gold rush.Today, Wattle Flat has a population of just 260 people. It is a beautiful village with many examples of its past still standing like stone buildings, miners’ cottages and abandoned gold mines.

Explore the village streets and historic buildings with A Stroll through Wattle Flat, a self-guided walk that was planned by members of the Wattle Flat community. You can pick up a copy from the General Store.
