Sunny Corner

Take the road less travelled between Bathurst and Lithgow or Mudgee and you may pass through the quiet retreat of Sunny Corner, a town which has attracted artists, potters and craftspeople in recent years, and was once the site of the largest silver mine in Australia prior to Broken Hill. Approximately 3.5 million ounces of silver and 140,000 ounces of gold were produced at Sunny Corner, but it was the unusually high grade of the silver that made the reputation of the town.Sunny Corner also adjoins the spectacular Winburndale Nature Reserve, and the best way to discover the lookouts and rugged Australian bush of the area is to let Detour Adventures or Simmo’s Off-Road Tours take you there in comfort or as a tag along tour.

On the first Sunday of December local artists and residents get together for Sunny Corner Sunday where artists’ studios are opened to the public and residents set up stalls offering fine local produce and crafts to visitors.
