Wine & Dine

Look a little further to find the best kept secrets of the Bathurst Region food and wine scene. Cafes, restaurants, boutique hotels and wineries are all emerging as the hubs our local foodies love.

Victoria1

The Victoria Hotel is one of the latest gems in the Bathurst food and wine scene. With bright splashes of colour and hand-crafted furniture, the artistic atmosphere lends itself to modern, Australian cuisine, creative cocktails, and local live music.

Originally built in 1876, the pub entered a brand new era early in 2019 as part of the Tremain's Mill transformation, an historic industrial complex in the Bathurst CBD that is fast becoming a bustling hub with green space, cafe, boutique shops and the railway station all within short walking distance.

Hill End1
The Hill End General Store & 24 Carrot Cafe is situated in the heart of the Hill End village just over an hour's drive from Bathurst. Bask under the umbrellas on the sun drenched patio while you fill up on delicious home made slices, scones, cakes or quiches, burgers, sandwiches and great coffee.

Then take a walk to discover the stories of this awe-inspiring town once the site of an incredible gold rush from the 1850s that now preserves an important part of our national heritage.

The Painted Horse Café has soared since opening in January 2019, making it into this year's Good Food Guide. Owned by partners with a background in fine dining and having previously been at the helm of a cool Coogee café, their fresh specials and impressive menu using locally sourced produce drives the once passing tourists into the centre of this sleepy town.

A true success story pouring life back into Sofala in the midst of a long drought, this spot is not one to be missed. Around a 40-minute drive from Bathurst, and another 30 minutes to Hill End, make this a must on your visit to the Villages.
