Spring in Bathurst

Motor sports, fun runs and floral festivals aren't typically talked about in the same sentence but that's the beauty of Bathurst. The only thing here you should expect is the unexpected, especially when it comes to the vast array of activities and events on offer during the months of September through November.

The biggest names in motor racing descend on the town for the world-famous Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 on Mount Panorama over the October long weekend, attracting people from around the country and around the globe. Even for non-fans, it's worth being able to tick this one off the bucket-list. So too are signature flower events such as the Bathurst Spring Spectacular Garden Weekend and the Mayfield Garden Spring Festival, where you'll have the chance to see the region awash in a spectacular see of colour.

The best of regional arts will come to Bathurst from 1-4 November when Artstate, a four-year project by Regional Arts NSW, descends on the town to shine a light on excellence in regional arts practice. There will be an exciting two-day program of speakers exploring the themes of A Sense of Place and Robust Regions. Accompanying the Speakers Program will be a diverse Arts Program featuring creatives from across the Central West of NSW

If you're looking for something else you can brag about to your friends and also test your running prowess, sign up for the Panorama Punish. Not your average fun run, this is a gruelling, 6.2km hot lap style of running event that will have you hanging for a pit stop.

  • Make sure you know your Ford from your Holden before you get to Mount Panorama for the iconic Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

  • Are you tough enough for the Panorama Punish? It's just a lap of the legendary Mount Panorama circuit but at 6.2km and an up-hill section that rivals the infamous Heartbreak Hill in Sydney, it will test even the most enthusiastic of runners.

  • 10 of the historic town’s gardens will throw their gates for the Bathurst Spring Spectacular Garden Weekend. The lilacs, irises, rhododendrons and azaleas will be in full bloom creating the perfect backdrop for Instagram snaps and selfies.
