Special Exhibition Around the Clock Bathurst 12 and 24 Hour Endurance Racers

Fast becoming a key event on the Australian and International motorsport calendar, the Bathurst 12-Hour attracts teams and drivers from across the globe, competing in the Intercontinental GT Challenge. The race’s profile is in stark contrast to relatively humble beginnings as a production car race in the early 1990s, with most entrants being local privateers. The intervening years saw the race on hiatus for over a decade, punctuated by two 24-Hour races in 2002 and 2003 that tested the viability of an endurance race for GT cars on Mount Panorama. But the rebirth of the Bathurst 12-Hour in 2007 would set the scene for the rise of a second world-class event at Australia’s greatest racing circuit.

This exhibition looks back over the history of the Bathurst 12-Hour and 24-Hour endurance races and will run at the National Motor Racing Museum from 28 January to Easter 2020.
