French Knitting and Pom Poms

Come along to our workshop and learn how to do French knitting. Once you’ve mastered that, we’ll make pom poms for a bit of added fun.

French knitting is a fun and easy way to get started at being crafty. It’s something a lot of people did as a child, and if you’re of a certain vintage, you probably did it using an old cotton reel with nails stuck in the top.

And for those knitters who have seen patterns that ask you to make an i-cord, French knitting is a great way to do it, rather than trying to cope with a small number of stitches on double pointed needles and sliding the stitches back and forth.

These days the tools you use can be pretty fancy, but the principle is still the same. With the tool and a length of yarn, you can produce a long tubular length of knitted yarn. What you then do with that is limited only by your imagination!
