The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace

Allegri Singers and friends are thrilled to be presenting a program of Karl Jenkins’ works featuring 'The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace'. With a choir of some 90 voices, soloists and a large orchestra, this will be one of the most exciting and challenging works in the choir's over 40 years of singing.

Joining the Allegri Singers will be the Willoughby Singers, Orange Symphony Orchestra, Orange Regional Conservatorium Symphonic Choir, and Kinross Wolaroi School Chamber Strings, Chamber Choir and Koristers, all under the direction of William Moxey.

'The Armed Man', subtitled 'A Mass for Peace' is essentially a plea for peace and an end to war. The words and music are immediately captivating, from the martial, strident opening and the shockingly visceral evocation of the reality of war, to the transcendent, exquisitely emotional movements expressing faith in the possibility of peace. This is a work you will never forget.

Inspired by the words of many different cultures and belief systems, it has a broad appeal to all of humankind.

Venue is wheelchair accessible.
