In conjunction with this year's Perthville Fair, the Sisters of St Josephs will be conducting 2 guided tours of the Perthville Convent Heritage Centre. Rich with history, the tour takes you on a journey through time from the foundations of the Sisters of St Joseph in New South Wales to their present day activities. The tour begins with the Founders, room, where the much admired Reg Campbell painting of Fr Julian Tenison Woods and Sister Mary MacKillop proudly hangs before moving through the original rooms of the convent. The Heritage Centre showcases an extensive collection of Josephite history and memorabilia, artefacts, costumes and books along with the highly treasured Sister Mary MacKillop relics. Visit the Sisters of St Joseph Cemetery where over two hundred Sisters have been laid to rest and learn the history of the Sisters’ first cemetery. Spend some quiet time in the historic St Joseph’s Chapel which was opened and blessed on the 17th January, 1960 by Bishop John F Norton and features the Shrine, to Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop.
(The Tour cost is $5.00 per person and tours begin promptly at 11am and 1pm (duration approx. 1 hr). No booking is required but we ask you to please meet the tour guide at the front of the St Joseph’s Administration Centre, 10 minutes before the tour time. There will be no late entry once the tour has commenced.)
