Feeding the Soil Food Web Dirt Workshop
Two Bathurst community organisations are taking the lead in environmental caretaking of farmland. November 1st 2019 will be a big day for those interested in the biological health of our soils and regenerative farming. Bathurst Region Vignerons are having a four hour seminar on the afternoon of Friday 1 November, on composting and organic health of the soil food web. This seminar is also sponsored by Greening Bathurst who are also holding a two hour meeting in the evening to discuss various regenerative farming practises.
The afternoon soil health seminar will be about composting and will touch on Biodynamic practices and the importance of organic nurturing of the soil food web. The simple organic retention of carbon in our soils is important for our survival in the current changing climate with severe drought sometimes followed by extreme rain events which challenge the soil structure, stability and fertility.
These events are supported by grants from Bathurst Regional Council and it is hoped to attract farmers and vignerons from across the central tablelands.
The afternoon event being held by Bathurst Region Vignerons will be at Renzaglia Wines in O’Connell starting at 12.30pm, numbers limited so registration compulsory at www.winesofbathurst.com.au.
The evening event with Greening Bathurst is at Kelso Community Centre starting 6.30pm, no booking necessary.
