Mary Hogan, nee McMahon, who was born in 1777 at Innis, Ireland and died in 1859 aged 82 is often regarded as the matriarch of the original Black Springs community and is buried there. Visit historic Avoca church, built in 1888. A $2 donation payable on the day will go to the Black Springs Progress Association. Bring a chair, cup for morning tea, lunch, hat, water and sunscreen. Wear sturdy walking shoes.
