SUMMARY:Larapinta Trail End to End...well almost! An illustrated talk with Joy Rayner
DESCRIPTION:Joy Rayner is a keen hiker and loves the challenge of seeing the world on foot. After walking in Spain in 2017 and Japan in 2019\, the COVID lockdown of 2021 meant looking closer to home for her walks. Not one to say no to a challenge\, Joy tackled the Larapinta Trail exploring the West MacDonnell Ranges of the Northern Territory. After a ‘tree-change’ from Sydney\, Joy made Bathurst her home\, she is now a member of the Central West Bushwalking Club.\nJoy’s talk will cover her experiences on Larapinta\, with accompanying imagery\, as well as details of the Indigenous and white settler history of the area.\nJoy will also bring some info on how you can get involved in hiking or join the local hiking club.\nFree community event.\nBookings essential\, phone 6333 6281.

SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening // Acts of Inheritance and Pattern Recognition
DESCRIPTION:Join BRAG in celebrating the opening of their first exhibitions of the year\, welcoming a vibrant and ambitions new year of artistic programming in Central West NSW. \nWe Are Studios: Acts of Inheritance\nActs of Inheritance presents new work from seventeen Disabled artists who explore identity as something lived\, layered and continually remade. We come to know ourselves through small\, everyday acts and performances – our own and those of others\, families\, cultures and communities as they leave their mark upon us. \nThe project is supported by the New South Wales Government through Create NSW and by the Australian Government through Creative Australia\, its principal arts investment and advisory body. \nLiz Bryan: Pattern Recognition\nLiz presents a body of work that explores the microcosmic world and the underlying geometry inherent in biological structures. Informed by sacred geometry and esoteric traditions outlined in Plato’s Timaeus\, the exhibition draws on the symbolism of the five Platonic solids—earth\, water\, air\, fire and ether—as metaphors for both physical and metaphysical systems. The relationship between microcosm and macrocosm\, particularly as seen in DNA structures and natural patterning\, underpins the work.
