SUMMARY:First_Nations_Free_Community_Event
DESCRIPTION:The Bathurst and surrounding community are warmly invited to come together for a relaxed and welcoming day of conversation with NSW integrity agencies that help keep government accountable. \nJoin us for:\n10am – Welcome to country\n1pm – Free BBQ \nMeet friendly staff from key independent oversight bodies\, and have a yarn about what integrity\, transparency and fairness mean to you and your community. This is an opportunity to ask questions\, share your perspectives\, and connect directly with the agencies that work to strengthen trust in public institutions across NSW. \nImportantly\, integrity across government does not happen in isolation. It relies on people – on communities -speaking up. We depend on members of the public to raise concerns\, share information and bring issues forward so they can be examined properly and addressed. Your voice matters. \nWho you’ll meet: \n•	NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) – Investigates and exposes serious corruption in the NSW public sector and works to prevent corruption through education and advice.\n•	Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) – Oversees and reviews how complaints about NSW Police and the NSW Crime Commission are handled\, and independently monitors critical incident investigations.\n•	NSW Ombudsman – Handles complaints about NSW government agencies and certain community services to ensure people are treated fairly and lawfully. The Ombudsman also administers the Public Interest Disclosures (PID) framework\, which helps protect whistleblowers who report serious wrongdoing from reprisal.\n•	Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) – Deals with complaints about health services and providers in NSW\, helping to protect public health and safety. \nCome along\, grab a bite to eat\, and sit down for a yarn. We are here to listen\, to share information\, and to work alongside community to strengthen accountability across NSW.

SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening // Acts of Inheritance and Pattern Recognition
DESCRIPTION:Join BRAG in celebrating the opening of their first exhibitions of the year\, welcoming a vibrant and ambitions new year of artistic programming in Central West NSW. \nWe Are Studios: Acts of Inheritance\nActs of Inheritance presents new work from seventeen Disabled artists who explore identity as something lived\, layered and continually remade. We come to know ourselves through small\, everyday acts and performances – our own and those of others\, families\, cultures and communities as they leave their mark upon us. \nThe project is supported by the New South Wales Government through Create NSW and by the Australian Government through Creative Australia\, its principal arts investment and advisory body. \nLiz Bryan: Pattern Recognition\nLiz presents a body of work that explores the microcosmic world and the underlying geometry inherent in biological structures. Informed by sacred geometry and esoteric traditions outlined in Plato’s Timaeus\, the exhibition draws on the symbolism of the five Platonic solids—earth\, water\, air\, fire and ether—as metaphors for both physical and metaphysical systems. The relationship between microcosm and macrocosm\, particularly as seen in DNA structures and natural patterning\, underpins the work.

SUMMARY:Exhibition Tours // ESSSENSSSE
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Tours // ESSSENSSSE \nJoin a FREE\, guided exhibition tour by BRAG staff on Saturdays at 11am!\nFree\, all welcome\, RSVP online or at gallery reception. \nBathurst Regional Art Gallery (BRAG) presents ESSSENSSSE\, a joyful work about healing and new beginnings by acclaimed contemporary artist HOSSEI (NSW)\, guest curated by Tesha Malott. \nESSSENSSSE is an aquatic ecosystem that explores the tenacity of the human spirit\, stripping away corporeal human qualities and revealing what’s underneath. ESSSENSSSE follows HOSSEI’s exploration of creating costumes that ‘heal’. Featuring a cast of 16 other-worldly sea creatures\, ESSSENSSSE transitions from a series of dynamic and joyful performances into a sensory\, large-scale installation\, in which visitors are surrounded by a playful\, 100% tactile landscape. \nESSSENSSSE began when HOSSEI became fascinated by the sand dollar sea creatures— their shape\, features\, and how in mediaeval times it was truly believed that sand dollars were mermaid currency. When looking at the sand dollar\, HOSSEI realised that if you were to remove the physical characteristics of a human body\, you would be left with a mouth and an anus\, just like the sand dollar. It is this idea that compelled HOSSEI to make the sand dollar an emblem of the show. An entry point and an exit\, not just with food\, but in the sense of discerning which energies come through and nourish the insides\, and which are let out. ESSSENSSSE is about letting go and being one with the spirit and embracing its purity and vulnerability. \nA Verge Gallery exhibition\, touring in partnership with Museums & Galleries of NSW\, supported by the University of Sydney and proudly funded by the NSW Government. Verge Gallery is supported by the University of Sydney Union. \nImage: HOSSEI\, ESSSENSSSE\, 2023. Performer Lauren Booker. Dimensions variable. Photography by Jacquie Manning.

SUMMARY:ARTIST TALK // Mystery of Missing Westerlies
DESCRIPTION:ARTIST TALK // Mystery of Missing Westerlies\nSaturday 12 July\, 11am \nHear from Ecological Gyre Theory’s Chantelle Mitchell (VIC) and Jaxon Waterhouse (NT) on BRAG Foyer Space Exhibition\, Mystery of Missing Westerlies\nPlease note: this event will be live streamed at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery.\nFREE\, all welcome\, RSVP essential \nBathurst Regional Art Gallery (BRAG) presents Mystery of Missing Westerlies by Chantelle Mitchell and Jaxon Waterhouse (Ecological Gyre Theory). \nMystery of Missing Westerlies is a body of work emerging in response to a news article from April 7\, 1950 which details “extraordinary weather”; a local manifestation of global atmospheric change\, being the disappearance of westerly winds across New South Wales in response to planetary changes sweeping the northern hemisphere. Working across installation\, video and intervention\, Mystery of Missing Westerlies considers pasts\, presents and futures in an interconnected planetary atmospheric frame. \nThe disappearance of the westerly winds is itself both a historical anomaly and a planetary omen. We treat this climatic rupture as an atmospheric case file\, a study in atmospheric disappearance\, inviting consideration of the interplay between absence\, evidence\, and the forces shaping our world. Here\, wind becomes both subject and metaphor—an invisible actor whose movements carry sediments\, shape deserts\, and drive oceanic currents\, but also a narrative force whose disappearance tells of shifting global patterns. Embedded within this body of work are material traces of evidence and investigation\, material clues in a wider investigation of climate\, memory\, and time.

SUMMARY:Artist & Curator Talk // ESSSENSSSE
DESCRIPTION:Artist & Curator Talk // ESSSENSSSE\nSaturday 5 July\, 11am \nJoin ESSSENSSSE artist HOSSEI and guest curator Tesha Malott in conversation at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery.\nFREE\, all welcome\, RSVP essential \nBathurst Regional Art Gallery (BRAG) presents ESSSENSSSE\, a joyful work about healing and new beginnings by acclaimed contemporary artist HOSSEI (NSW)\, guest curated by Tesha Malott.

SUMMARY:OPENING // Mystery of Missing Westerlies
DESCRIPTION:OPENING // Mystery of Missing Westerlies\nA BRAG Foyer Space Exhibition by Ecological Gyre Theory \nAuslan interpreted opening speeches (VRI)\nCatering by BRAGS\nBeverages by sponsors Grass Parrot Vineyard\, Renzaglia Wines\, and Cosmo Brewing\nFREE\, all welcome\, RSVP essential \nBathurst Regional Art Gallery (BRAG) presents Mystery of Missing Westerlies by Chantelle Mitchell and Jaxon Waterhouse (Ecological Gyre Theory).
