SUMMARY:Puppetry Of Paper Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Come and join the amazing Jenny from Little Wing Puppets in your very own puppet making workshop. \nScrunch\, rip\, twist\, tear! \nHow many things can you do with a piece of paper? This workshop is based on Bunraku-style puppetry\, a traditional Japanese form of theatre which involves multiple puppeteers working closely together to operate one puppet. Workshop participants will start by making a unique puppet out of paper. \nThey will then learn techniques for bringing their puppet to life\, either as individuals or as a team. Each group will work on short performances which are presented to the group. \nParticipants will leave the workshop with a range of performance skills\, which can be applied to any kind of puppetry. \nLittle Wing Puppets have facilitated workshops with thousands of young people in every state and territory of Australia\, as well as overseas. They believe that young people deserve access to the arts\, wherever they live. They’re passionate about passing on their skills so that children can learn to create their own worlds through puppetry. \nRecommended ages 3 years and up.* Parents and carers are encouraged to participate. Children ages 6 years and under need to be accompanied by an adult.

SUMMARY:All Fools' Ball
DESCRIPTION:Dress up in your best swing dance outfit\, put on your dancing shoes and party like it’s 1946!\n\nTo celebrate 150 years since the railway arrived in Bathurst\, the Bathurst Rail Museum is inviting the community to dance the night away with the Mitchell Conservatoriums CONnections Big Band at the All Fools’ Ball.\n\nThe All Fools’ Ball was a popular event in Bathurst\, traditionally held around April Fools Day in various locations over the years. For the Bathurst railway community\, it was a great opportunity to socialise. The venue for the evening – the Railway Institute\, home to the Bathurst Rail Museum – was for learning the trades of the railway\, but it was also a community hub for dances\, sports and other social activities.\n\n “The Railway Institute certainly knows how to put some kick into its social events\, as was exemplified at their All Fools Ball…”\n -National Advocate\, 10 October 1936
