The score’s enduring melodies have left their mark on pop culture\, most famously Figaro’s Act I showstopper\, “Largo al factotum\,” and the iconic overture\, parodied by Bugs Bunny. \nThe Met’s “inventive” (The New York Times) production by Broadway’s Bartlett Sher emphasizes the slapstick nature of the opera\, with over-the-top physical comedy\, tons of props\, and explosive pyrotechnic effects. \nACT I: Rosina is being kept confined to her house in Seville by her elderly guardian\, Dr. Bartolo\, who plans to marry her. Count Almaviva\, disguised as a poor student named Lindoro\, attempts to win her love.
