SUMMARY:Bathurst Dances\, Old Time and New Vogue Dance
DESCRIPTION:Dancing the old fashioned way\, with a another in your arms. Waltzes\, Tangos\, Saunters\, Jive and Swing in a sequenced way. Short demos before many dances\, but nothing beats\, standing up and simply giving it a go\, then having a laugh or giggle at your own attempts\, the way it was done in the old days\, still the cheapest way to learn.

SUMMARY:The dark web: a foray into fungal realms with Dr Alison Pouliot
DESCRIPTION:Bookings are essential: call 6333 6281 \nJoin ecologist\, mycologist\, photographer\, Dr Alison Pouliot in an exploration of the dark web beneath our feet. \nLike the online dark web\, the clandestine workings of fungi in the subterrain are also hidden. Mycologists – scientists who study fungi – are starting to make sense of how they operate\, but the detail of their activities and the players involved largely remains a mystery.\nAlthough little known\, the roots of almost every plant in the Australian landscape are intimately entwined with fungi. Fungi not only help plants access water and nutrients but also increase their resistance to drought and disease. They build architecture in soils\, aerate them\, and allow water to gently percolate to deeper horizons.\nIn this highly interactive seminar\, we’ll explore these unruly fungal renegades and how they contravene the frameworks we use to understand life\, but also how they might inspire the innovative thinking needed to navigate an uncertain future.\nAlison will also share some stories from her adventures during the writing of her new book\, Funga Obscura: Photo Journeys Among Fungi. \nCopies of Alison’s books will be available for purchase.
