DESCRIPTION:Reflect\, Respect and Celebrate Australia Day in the Bathurst Region on Monday 26 January. \nJoin us in welcoming new Australian citizens as they are presented with their Citizenship Certificates at the Annual Citizenship Ceremony.\nWhen: 9.30am\nWhere: Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre – City Hall \nThen\, celebrate the significant achievements and outstanding contributions of our local community members at the Australia Day Awards Ceremony.\nWhen: 11am\nWhere: Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre – City Hall \nCool off at the Manning Aquatic Centre this Australia Day with $2 entry from 11am to 5.30pm\, water activities and a free BBQ lunch; or head out and explore one of the beautiful villages. Wattle Flat will be hosting a family fun day along from 9am to 2pm with a free BBQ\, face painting\, live music and more! \nPlus\, make the most of the Australia Day long weekend and enjoy a free outdoor cinema experience in Kings Parade on Saturday 24 January. Bring the family along to enjoy the iconic Australian film Red Dog (Rated PG) under the stars and soak up a beautiful summer evening in the park.\nThere will be no food trucks on site\, so make sure to pack a picnic or grab takeaway from your favourite local restaurant\, settle in for a fun night. SUMMARY:BATHURST ANNUAL AUSTRALIA DAY TRIATHLON
DESCRIPTION:Bathurst’s Biggest Triathlon Event of the Year\nWhile the Australia Day Triathlon in Bathurst is one of the most prestigious events in Country NSW\, it is a wonderful way to celebrate Australia Day\, giving the citizens of Bathurst an opportunity to get “out an active” on Australia Day Morning. The Australia Day event is the Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Clubs round in the Central West Interclub series and is quite a spectacle\, bragging an excellent Honour Roll.\nThe event is based at Stanley Street which is a very historic site\, being where Governor and Lady Macquarie proclaimed the city and first European Settlement in Inland Australia. But prior to this\, the venue was the meeting place of the two dominant water courses of the Bathurst Plains: with the Wambool (Macquarie River) and Vale creek joining at the location. This had created a sandy beach & swimming hole long before white settlement. (NOTE around a century ago\, the Queen Charlotte’s Vale Creek was redirected by the Municipal Council to join the Macquarie/Wambool River further upstream).\nThe 2026 Aussie Day event starting adjacent to the Wambuul Ceremonial Ground & 2015 Bicentennial meeting site\, with race organisers asking all to consider the history of the Wiradyuri Nation at this old natural water hole site. This event is a celebration of life in Australia on our National Day\, as well as the Bathurst round of the Central West Interclub Series.
