DESCRIPTION:Join us at the gallery each Saturday during our current exhibitions\, for a free guided tour!  \nSaturdays\, 11am\nFREE\, all welcome\, RSVP online or at BRAG reception \nOur current suite of exhibitions includes: \nA Tear in the Fabric presents new and existing works from nine Asian and Asian Australian artists who embrace distortion as a mode of disruption. In partnership with 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art\, the exhibition revolves around notions of aesthetic\, material and conceptual interventions integrated into established forms of creative practice. Picking at the seams to make space for new narratives and artistic approaches\, we see exploratory excursions into concepts of place\, materiality\, memory\, identity and perception\, manifesting in a diverse range of mediums. \nTea Ceremony in the Celestial Garden\, is reminiscent of the famous Japanese food display ‘shokuhin sampuru’ or French pastries display in Paris\, the cakes are mouth-watering\, but not for consumption. The construction of the cakes in ceramics is labour-intensive\, down to each sprinkle of hundreds and thousands. Their imaginary forms conjure a colourful\, dream-like world. This project was created during a 2025 artist residency at the PumpHouse Albury. \nLandscapes of Imagination: From the Collection\, bringing together works from the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery Collection that reflect the enduring artistic allure of Hill End. SUMMARY:MILLTOWN Screening
DESCRIPTION:MILLTOWN is a new living history film that celebrates the people of the historic Milltown area of Bathurst. A project between Arts OutWest and Chifley Home and Education Centre\, the film features interviews with Bathurst locals who lived in the Milltown / South Bathurst area in the 20th century. Their memories are woven together with personal film footage and with stories of Ben and Elizabeth Chifley to create a beautiful celebration of life by the railways. \nIt was produced by the Arts and Health team\, Kate Smith and Steven Cavanagh\, and was created by Bathurst-based film maker Henry Simmons.\nTake some time to relax and cool off this summer by dropping into the library to watch this short documentary. The 13-minute film will be screened on a loop at Bathurst Library from Monday 15 to Wednesday 17 December during opening hours. No bookings are required. Please see the service desk for headphones.
