Mayfield Garden Summer Festival

Recurring event see all

December 27 @ 9:00 am January 26 @ 4:30 pm

Mayfield is opening up the full private Hawkins garden during the Summer Festival. The decision to open up the private garden was made to ensure visitors could get a more complete picture and understanding of the garden as it transitions and adapts to the Summer months. The full garden is now open during all four seasonal festivals.

In Summer, visitors can now visit the family chapel, the amazing box hedge maze, the cascade and also enjoy rowing boats on Mayfield Lake around the Chinese Pagoda – free access to rowboats and lifejackets on the far side of Mayfield Lake near the Sphere Sculpture (free with garden entry). Play interactive garden games like croquet, bocce, and giant chess which can be found throughout the garden. There is also a Ping-Pong table in the Woodfire Garden.

Summer’s featured plants are the hydrangeas blooming in purples, pinks, and blues and you’ll see these as you entre Mayfield Garden. You’ll love the water lilies in the water garden and why not listen out for our resident Eastern Banjo Frogs (Pobblebonk). It wouldn’t be a seasonal festival unless the Hawkins’ Family Garden was open.

The Hawkins’ Family Rose Garden
Features rose varieties including Old World, Hybrid Tea, David Austin, Carpet Roses, and Crepuscule Noisette. The Rose Garden is found along the path beyond the Sunken Garden Rooms adjacent to the Parterre and the Croquet Court as you walk up toward the Hawkins’ Family Amphitheatre.
