Ian Redpath - Bathurst Tours/Detour Adventures

Historical Bathurst Tour
This is a great insight into life back in the old town of Bathurst - the place itself dates back to 1815 when it was first settled by European settlers. We have so many old buildings, rich, beautiful architecture and famous icons like Mount Panorama, magnificently presented parks and gardens and countryside. Tthe best way to view it all is really on a tour. They run from two hours to a full day so you can immerse yourself in the rich history of the area.

Abercrombie House
This amazing Scottish Baronial mansion was built in 1878 and stands proudly out in the country just 7kms from the town centre. Open for self-guided tours, this amazing house needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. With its master bedrooms, servant’s rooms and 8 metre high ballroom with gold leaf ceiling, it’s a treasure you won’t see anywhere else.

Top Tip: Like jazz? Abercrombie House has regular jazz nights once a month with their own in house band.

The Art Galleries and Museums of Bathurst
We are lucky to have so many wonderful facilities here in Bathurst which are perfect for the visitor enjoying a few days in town. We have some amazing places like the Australian Fossil & Mineral Museum - one of the finest collections of fossils and minerals in the country which even includes a T-Rex, the National Motor Racing Museum, Ash’s Speedway Museum, the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre, The Chifley Home Museum - the home of a former Prime Minister, Bathurst Arts Trail, Bathurst Courthouse and many other old buildings in the town square.

4WD Adventure Tour
Many think of Bathurst as being in the middle of farm land but how wrong they are. We are on the western edge of the Great Dividing Range and therefore have some of the most accessible, unspoilt and dramatic 4WDing in the country. Enter the bush just 20 minutes from Bathurst and enter a different world - there’s volcanic rock formations, loads of kangaroos and bush that has been unchanged for thousands of years.
