Bathurst is a place which dedicates itself to city beautification, not only in it's streets and historic buildings, but also in it's parks, gardens and reserves throughout the Bathurst region.
We know what it's like to be part of the great outdoors and among the fresh air, so we strive to provide our residents with parks and playgrounds, cycleways and gardens which we are proud to show to the world. Whether you like a picnic in the park with a loved one or a family bike ride along the historic Macquarie River, Bathurst has relaxing outdoor scenery waiting for you.
Here you will find information regarding Bathurst and surrounds recreational areas and cycleways.
Parks
One of Bathurst's most recognisable and beautiful parks is Machattie Park in the town centre. Located just behind the famous courthouse, Machattie Park has something for the whole family.
King's Parade is located in the middle of town and is home to one of Bathurst most iconic landmarks, the Carillion. There are also monuments dedicated to Australian soldiers, and on Sunday's is home to some of Bathurst's favourite markets.
A must-see and family favourite is the Macquarie River Bicentenial Park, also known to the locals simply as Peace Park. A newly constructed childrens playground will keep the kids busy, and with BBQ facilities and public toilets on location it makes for a great Sunday afternoon with the family.

Off-leash Areas
Bathurst is a city that encourages responsible pet ownership, and rewards those with dogs with a number of off-leash areas for your favourite four-legged friend to enjoy unrestricted. We do ask that you take with you whatever your pooch deposits on our grounds, and there are bins and bags provided for your assistance. You can find out about Bathurst's off-lease areas linked here at the Bathurst Regional Council website.
