Parks
Bathurst is a place which dedicates itself to city beautification, not only in its streets and historic buildings, but also in its parks, gardens and reserves throughout the region.
Bathurst Regional Council strives to provide residents with parks, playgrounds and gardens that enhance the quality of life in the area. Whether you like a picnic in the park with a loved one or a family bike ride along the historic Macquarie River, Bathurst has relaxing outdoor scenery waiting for you to explore.
One of Bathurst's most recognisable and beautiful parks is Machattie Park in the town centre. Located just behind the famous courthouse, Machattie Park is a hive of family activity and welcome oasis in the CBD. King's Parade is located in the middle of town and is home to one of Bathurst most iconic landmarks, the Carillion a dedicated war memorial as well as Boer war memorial and the Evans memorial.
A must-see and family favourite is the Macquarie River Bicentennial Park, also known to the locals as the Peace Park. A childrens playground will keep the kids busy, and with BBQ facilities and public toilets on location it makes for a great Sunday afternoon with the family.
A $1 million adventure playground, located in Victoria Park, a short drive from the CBD and adjacent to the Bathurst Base Hospital, has plenty of climbing, swinging and sliding fun for kids of all ages including a stockyard maze and an everpopular flying fox.
