The Bathurst Region offers a vibrant cultural life. There are many activities and centres which offer the resident and visitor an opportunity to immerse themselves in the art and culture of the region.
Located two blocks from the main central business district, Keppel Street offers an historic arts and culture precinct. From local produce to unique homewares stores and patisseries, Keppel Street offers a unique shopping experience. Keppel Street is also home to the Bathurst Library and Bathurst Regional Art Gallery.
Bathurst Regional Art Gallery (BRAG)
One of the oldest regional galleries in NSW. It is well equipped and home to one of the finest collections of Lloyd Rees artworks in regional NSW. The Gallery's exhibition program features a diverse range of touring exhibitions, Local Artist Project Shows, exhibitions created from the permanent collection and the work of Hill End Artists. The design of the Gallery allows programming of three to four exhibitions at a time with an exhibition changeover every six weeks With an average of 25 exhibitions per year, there is always plenty of new material for our visitors. BRAG also offers guided tours, children's activities, public programs and is wheelchair friendly.

Bathurst is home to the Macquarie Philharmonia.The Macquarie Philharmonia annually brings together talented professional musicians living in western areas of NSW, from the Blue Mountains to Dubbo and from Mudgee to Cowra. The Macquarie Philharmonia also invites the best music students from the region's Conservatoriums to perform alongside professionals. The Macquarie Philharmonia is a ProAm (professional and amateur) orchestra, which annually performs exciting and varied programs throughout Central Western NSW. Each year, the Macquarie Philharmonia hosts a concert series in different areas. Bathurst Regional Library
The Bathurst Regional Library is considered by many as one of best in regional NSW. People from Bathurst and surrounds come to use the Library for study, recreation, to meet people and simply just to relax. With accessible opening hours including Sunday, the Library offers a range of services including home delivery for those who are homebound! There is also a focus on the kids, with the Library running many kiddy friendly activities including a dynamic schedule of School Holiday Programs, in conjunction with the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery. Conducted by local artists and theatre professionals, these hands on workshops provide innovative activities for children of all ages.
